Samsung REAL DREAMS Building a prosperous future for African youth

Oluwakemi Oluwaseun Oladiran has just launched a new SMS marketing campaign. She designed the campaign to promote ‘Signature Cakes’ – her budding new business. Oluwakemi is slowly realizing her ambition to be “the foremost mentioned confectionery in Lagos.”

“I am a business woman now,” Oluwakemi says proudly. “I have learned to think strategically. Simple as it sounds, I now know that I need to invest in a professional mixer to bake more and produce higher quality cakes. My cakes need to be delivered on time and with excellent service. Focusing on my customers is key.”

Oluwakemi’s talent for baking cakes developed as a youngster. She spent her early years learning the craft – much to the delight of family and friends. However, after graduation, Oluwakemi took a job at a telecommunications company. She worked several years, yearning to fulfill her dream of turning her hobby into her own business.

One morning, Oluwakemi stumbled upon an ad for the Samsung Real Dreams program in the local newspaper. “I enrolled immediately – this was my opportunity to get familiar with the business way of thinking, to broaden my horizons.”

This eagerness and determination paid off. After an intensive Samsung Real Dreams training course in customer service, business and marketing, Oladiran plans for a month’s internship with successful entrepreneurs. She joined the local cake guild, set up her business which she runs from her home, and even hired an assistant. “I know success doesn’t happen overnight,” she explains. “But I know how to get there now with my Samsung Real Dreams skills.” The rest of her story will be history in the baking!
